Startups Demonstrate AI Solutions for Education Security and Rail Safety at India AI Impact Summit

The India AI Impact Summit 2026 at Bharat Mandapam witnessed a strong showcase of practical artificial intelligence applications as startups and institutions demonstrated how AI is being integrated into education, surveillance, railway safety and other everyday systems.

From the exhibition floor to interactive booths, the focus throughout the day remained on translating emerging technologies into real-world public applications. Innovators, policymakers and students engaged in live demonstrations that underscored a clear message: artificial intelligence is moving beyond experimental prototypes and into operational deployment.

The summit brought together startups, researchers, industry leaders and academic institutions working across transport, governance, infrastructure and education. Conversations centred on how AI research is being converted into deployable systems capable of improving efficiency, access and safety in daily life.

One of the prominent exhibits was SATHEE, an initiative of the Ministry of Education and IIT Kanpur. Launched in 2023, SATHEE, Self Assessment Test and Help for Entrance Exams, provides free AI-powered preparation and mentorship support for eight major competitive examinations including JEE, NEET, CLAT, ICAR, CUET, SSC, RRB and IBPS.

The platform integrates AI-based doubt resolution, personalised study plan generators, confusion detection tools and automatic transcript summarisation. According to Dhruv Garg, Software Engineer at IIT Kanpur, the system was designed to support flexible learning schedules. AI-powered features such as mnemonic generation, memory aids and a visual problem solver allow students to study at their convenience. Students can generate customised study plans based on available hours and subject focus, while the system extracts key formulas and summaries from lecture transcripts and identifies recurring conceptual gaps.

Content is currently available in 13 Indian languages, with further expansion underway. Early implementation in selected government schools has shown encouraging results, with reported increases of up to 50 percent in JEE qualifiers and 80 percent in NEET qualifiers. The initiative aims to expand access to quality preparation, particularly for students who may not have the means to pursue private coaching.

In the domain of security technology, Gurugram-based firm iiris Value Catalysts presented AI-enhanced surveillance solutions. Zia Ahmad, Manager Security Design, explained that the company integrates AI software with conventional camera systems rather than replacing hardware. AI tools enable intelligent filtering of footage based on attributes such as clothing colour or time span, significantly reducing the time required to review recordings. Integrated systems linking cameras and motion sensors generate real-time alerts, enhancing response efficiency.

The firm is conducting security risk assessments for major infrastructure projects, including Vrindavan Chandrodaya Mandir in Mathura. The emphasis, Ahmad noted, remains on structured risk mitigation supported by AI-enabled analytics and professional oversight.

Railway safety emerged as another critical area of AI application. RailLabs Railway Digital Safety showcased Arista, an autonomous track inspection robot. Sumit Anand, Co Founder of RailLabs, explained that Arista uses ultrasonic flaw detection to identify both surface and internal cracks in railway tracks. It also deploys lasers for track profiling and AI-based vision cameras to detect structural defects such as missing fish plates and bolts. The system reportedly increases inspection efficiency by up to 200 percent compared to manual methods.

RailLabs also presented ChakrVue, a wheel shelling prediction system designed to prevent derailments by identifying potential wheel defects before failure. According to Nischal Ranjan, Operational Manager at RailLabs, the system is operational in 20 LHB and Tejas coaches across cities including Mumbai, Agartala and Ranchi. Early detection of cracks above two millimetres, he noted, is essential for ensuring railway safety.

Across the exhibition halls, demonstration units operated continuously as policymakers, technologists and industry representatives observed live applications and discussed implementation pathways. The emphasis throughout remained on outcome-driven AI deployment rather than theoretical exploration.

As the summit progressed, it became evident that artificial intelligence is being layered into existing frameworks in classrooms, transport systems, security infrastructure and public institutions. The steady integration of intelligent systems into everyday sectors reflects a broader national effort to align technological advancement with public service delivery.

The India AI Impact Summit 2026 highlighted that AI adoption in India is increasingly defined by measurable impact, sectoral integration and practical problem-solving, reinforcing its role in the country’s development trajectory.
