India AI Impact Summit Draws Global Participation And Major Investment Commitments

The India AI Impact Summit 2026, hosted by the Government of India in New Delhi, witnessed unprecedented global participation and major investment commitments, reinforcing India’s emerging leadership in artificial intelligence innovation, governance and international cooperation.

The details were presented in the Lok Sabha by Union Minister for Electronics and Information Technology Ashwini Vaishnaw, who highlighted the outcomes of the global summit held from 16 to 21 February 2026 at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi.

Global Participation At AI Summit

The India AI Impact Summit 2026 brought together representatives from more than 100 countries, including 22 Heads of State or Government and around 10 international organisations. Participants represented regions across Asia, Europe, Africa, the Americas and Oceania.

International organisations, including several United Nations agencies and multilateral development banks, also took part in the summit discussions.

The event witnessed extensive public participation, with approximately six lakh attendees participating in person. In addition, the summit generated significant digital engagement with more than nine lakh cumulative views recorded through live virtual streaming platforms.

Officials described the summit as one of the largest global gatherings on artificial intelligence hosted by any developing nation.

Inclusive Global Dialogue On Artificial Intelligence

The summit marked the first time that the global AI summit series was held in the Global South, reflecting a shift toward more inclusive global dialogue on artificial intelligence governance and innovation.

The five day event was organised under the theme Sarvajan Hitaya Sarvajan Sukhaya, which emphasises the use of technology for the welfare and well being of all.

The summit brought together policymakers, technology leaders, industry representatives, researchers, academic institutions, civil society organisations and start ups to discuss the future of artificial intelligence and its applications across sectors.

Officials said the summit served as a global platform for dialogue, partnerships and investment announcements aimed at strengthening the international AI ecosystem.

Global Declaration And Policy Initiatives

A major outcome of the summit was the India AI Impact Summit Declaration, which was endorsed by 92 countries and international organisations.

The declaration acknowledged the work undertaken by seven thematic working groups that examined various dimensions of artificial intelligence governance, innovation and deployment.

In addition, the New Delhi Frontier AI Impact Commitments were signed by 13 leading global artificial intelligence model providers.

The summit also produced 12 major deliverables across seven working groups, with each deliverable receiving endorsements from more than 20 participating countries.

Global Initiatives And Collaborative Platforms

Several global initiatives aimed at strengthening international cooperation on artificial intelligence were launched during the summit.

These included the launch of the Global AI Impact Commons, which currently documents more than 80 AI impact stories from over 30 countries demonstrating real world applications of artificial intelligence.

An Equitable AI Transition Playbook was released in partnership with the International Labour Organisation to guide governments and institutions in managing workforce transitions driven by artificial intelligence technologies.

Participating countries also endorsed the Voluntary Guiding Principles for Resilient Innovative and Efficient Artificial Intelligence, while a separate set of voluntary principles on reskilling in the age of artificial intelligence received endorsements from 24 countries.

Another initiative launched during the summit was the Charter for the Democratic Diffusion of Artificial Intelligence, which received support from 25 countries and international organisations.

The summit also saw the release of a Playbook for Advancing Resilient AI Infrastructure aimed at supporting countries in developing robust computing and digital infrastructure for artificial intelligence applications.

A Guidance Note on Artificial Intelligence Governance was also released and endorsed by 22 countries.

New Global Partnerships In Artificial Intelligence

Several international collaborations and initiatives were announced during the summit.

The Trusted AI Commons initiative was announced with 23 partner countries ahead of its formal launch.

An Alliance for Advancing Inclusion Through Artificial Intelligence was also announced with the support of 21 countries and the United Nations Children’s Fund.

Another initiative launched during the summit was the Network of Artificial Intelligence for Science Institutions, which was established with 20 partner countries at its inception.

India also launched the Resilient AI Challenge in partnership with France and the United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural Organization to promote the development of resilient artificial intelligence solutions.

Global Campaign For Responsible Artificial Intelligence

During the summit, India also launched an Artificial Intelligence Responsibility Campaign that achieved a Guinness World Record for the highest number of pledges received for an artificial intelligence responsibility campaign within twenty four hours.

More than 2.5 lakh validated pledges were recorded as part of the campaign, highlighting global interest in responsible and ethical artificial intelligence deployment.

Release Of Global Casebooks On AI Applications

Six global casebooks documenting the application of artificial intelligence across different sectors were also released during the summit.

These casebooks covered artificial intelligence in healthcare in collaboration with the World Health Organization, artificial intelligence in energy with the International Energy Agency, artificial intelligence in gender empowerment with UN Women, artificial intelligence in agriculture in collaboration with the Government of Maharashtra and the World Bank, artificial intelligence in education with the Central Square Foundation and EkStep Foundation and artificial intelligence in accessibility in collaboration with ALIMCO, IIIT Bangalore and ChangeInkk Foundation.

The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology also launched the AI Impact Startup Book highlighting India’s artificial intelligence and deep technology start up ecosystem.

Major Investment Announcements

The summit also witnessed large scale investment announcements across the artificial intelligence value chain.

Officials stated that expected investments announced during the summit exceed 250 billion US dollars across areas such as artificial intelligence infrastructure, foundation models, computing hardware and digital applications.

Large Indian technology and industrial companies collectively announced plans to invest more than one hundred billion US dollars in artificial intelligence infrastructure and digital ecosystems.

These investments include expansion of artificial intelligence ready data centres and digital infrastructure.

Global venture capital firms also pledged multi billion dollar investments aimed at supporting innovation and growth within the artificial intelligence ecosystem.

A major international technology company also announced plans to invest in connectivity infrastructure, establish an artificial intelligence hub in India and launch large scale training programmes aimed at reaching tens of millions of public servants and students.

International Cooperation Agreements

On the sidelines of the summit, India joined the Pax Silica coalition, an international initiative that includes the United States and several partner countries.

The coalition focuses on securing the global silicon supply chain and strengthening resilience in technology manufacturing and semiconductor ecosystems.

In addition, the IndiaAI Mission and Business Sweden signed a Statement of Intent to strengthen bilateral cooperation in artificial intelligence and digital technologies and to expand trade and investment engagement between India and Sweden.

Strengthening India Position In Global AI Ecosystem

Officials said the India AI Impact Summit 2026 established India as an important global hub for artificial intelligence innovation, governance and international cooperation.

The summit served as a platform for global dialogue on responsible artificial intelligence development and helped build partnerships among governments, technology companies, academic institutions and investors.

However, the government clarified that the summit itself was not designed to estimate potential impacts on economic growth or employment generation.

The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology stated that India will continue to promote the development and responsible use of artificial intelligence technologies to address real world challenges and improve quality of life across sectors.
