India Energy Week 2026 Set to Position Goa as Global Hub for Energy Dialogue

India Energy Week 2026 will be held in Goa from 27 to 30 January, bringing together global energy ministers, chief executives, policymakers, investors, academics and technology leaders at a pivotal moment for the international energy sector. As the first major global energy event of the year, the four day gathering will focus on strengthening energy security, accelerating investment and advancing practical and scalable pathways for decarbonisation.

Returning to Goa, India Energy Week is expected to draw participation from more than 120 countries, reflecting its growing stature as one of the world’s leading platforms for energy dialogue and cooperation. Building on the scale of the previous edition, which attracted over 68,000 visitors, 570 exhibitors and more than 5,400 conference delegates, the 2026 edition is set to expand further in both scope and global reach.

Hosted under the patronage of the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas and jointly organised by the Federation of Indian Petroleum Industry and dmg events, India Energy Week provides a neutral and globally connected forum to address issues of energy security, affordability and sustainability. Delegations from the Americas, Europe, the Middle East, Africa and the Asia Pacific region are expected to participate, underlining India’s rising role in global energy diplomacy.

The event takes place against the backdrop of a rapidly evolving global energy landscape marked by rising demand, geopolitical uncertainty and intensifying climate commitments. According to the International Energy Agency World Energy Outlook 2025, India is projected to account for more than 23 per cent of global incremental energy demand by 2050, the highest for any single country. India Energy Week 2026 will therefore provide a critical platform for discussions on building resilient energy systems while accelerating the clean energy transition.

A central focus of the event will be India’s reform driven energy framework, which seeks to balance economic growth, climate responsibility and consumer protection. Recent legislative and regulatory reforms under the Oilfields Regulation and Development Act 2025 and the Petroleum and Natural Gas Rules 2025 have strengthened the upstream ecosystem. These reforms introduce single petroleum leases covering exploration production decarbonisation and integrated energy projects, time bound approvals with decisions mandated within 180 days, long term lease stability of up to 30 years extendable to the economic life of a field, infrastructure sharing mechanisms and enhanced investor risk mitigation measures.

Clean energy pathways will feature prominently, with discussions on biofuels green hydrogen sustainable fuels and emerging low carbon technologies. India’s ethanol blending programme will be highlighted as a global benchmark, having delivered cumulative foreign exchange savings of about one point five nine lakh crore rupees since 2014, reduced carbon dioxide emissions by more than 813 lakh metric tonnes, substituted around 270 lakh metric tonnes of crude oil and generated substantial income for farmers and ethanol producers.

India Energy Week 2026 will also spotlight the country’s rapid expansion of energy infrastructure to enhance long term security. Petrol retail outlets have more than doubled since 2014, compressed natural gas stations have expanded several fold, and piped natural gas connections have grown significantly. The national gas pipeline network has expanded by around two thirds, while city gas distribution now covers almost the entire country.

Despite global volatility in energy prices, India’s approach to consumer protection will also be examined. Fuel prices have remained stable in recent years, supported by excise duty reductions and price interventions by oil marketing companies. Subsidised LPG prices for beneficiaries continue to be among the lowest globally, reinforcing the emphasis on affordability and social equity.

Over four days, India Energy Week 2026 will feature ministerial roundtables, chief executive dialogues, public private sector interactions, technology showcases, exhibitions and media engagements. Dedicated sessions will address hydrogen economies green finance sustainable fuels circularity digital transformation and workforce development. The expanded exhibition will host hundreds of companies across the energy value chain, supported by extensive international participation and country pavilions.

As India’s flagship global energy platform, India Energy Week continues to bring together government leaders industry executives and innovators to advance a secure sustainable and affordable energy future. The 2026 edition in Goa is expected to further strengthen global collaboration investment and policy alignment at a time when energy transitions are reshaping economies worldwide.
