India Energy Week 2026 concluded in Goa with a strong focus on recognising innovation, technological excellence and leadership across the energy value chain, as startups, academic institutions and industry leaders were honoured for contributions shaping India’s energy future. The flagship global energy conclave was held from 27 January to 30 January 2026 and brought together policymakers, business leaders, innovators and investors to advance pragmatic solutions for a secure, sustainable and affordable global energy system.
The awards segment underscored India’s growing influence in the global energy ecosystem and highlighted breakthrough work across clean energy, upstream technology, exploration, refining and digital innovation.
AVINYA The Energy Startup Challenge
The AVINYA challenge recognised emerging Indian startups delivering technology-driven solutions for the energy sector.
Minimines Cleantech Solutions, represented by Mr Hardhik and Mr Anupam Kumar, won the top honour for their proprietary HHM process that enables low-carbon recovery of high-value materials from end-of-life lithium-ion batteries, with applications expanding into solar panels, catalytic converters and permanent magnets.
Ossus Biorenewables, led by Dr Suruchi Rao and Mr Kamar Suhail Basha, secured the first runner-up position for its biochemical process that converts industrial wastewater into green hydrogen.
Tranzmeo IT Solutions, represented by Mr Safil Sunny and Mr Rakaesh Mishra, was named second runner-up for its artificial intelligence-driven fibre-sensing applications that enable precise monitoring of pipelines, vents and carbon capture utilisation and storage processes.
Rezlytix Technologies, represented by Mr Dipshankar Nanda and Mr Vinay Bhardwaj, emerged as third runner-up for its AI-powered deep information maximisation engine aimed at transforming oil and gas exploration.
Petrobot Technologies, led by Mr Sahab Gurjar and Mr Shashi Fagna, was named fourth runner-up for its robotic inspection solutions for hydrocarbon plants and vessels.
VASUDHA Overseas Upstream Startup Challenge
The international VASUDHA challenge recognised startups advancing upstream technology.
SENERGETICS from the Netherlands, represented by Mr Franciscus Johanna Jacobs and Ms Anitha, won the award for its AI-driven corrosion monitoring solutions that enhance safety, reliability and sustainability in upstream operations.
Resermine Inc from the United States, represented by Mr Anton Malkov and Mr Amit Kumar, was named runner-up for its Hawkeye hybrid model engine that optimises reservoir engineering workflows.
Hackathon Challenge
Seven premier institutes participated in the Hackathon Challenge, which rewarded innovative problem-solving in energy technology.
IIT Bombay emerged as the winner, represented by Soutik Bhakta and Prof Kumar Hemant Singh, for Aura, an AI-driven unified reservoir analysis platform based on a semi-supervised CNN transformer framework.
IIT Delhi secured the runner-up position, represented by Swagat Sabyasachi Sahoo, Akshit Agarwal, Manogya Sunil Chordia, Debarun Banerjee and Prof Vikrant, for a circular economy solution using bi-basic solvent-based carbon dioxide capture and mineralisation through steel industry slag.
FIPI and IIP Annual Industry Awards
The Federation of Indian Petroleum Industry recognised excellence across exploration, production, refining, innovation and gas distribution.
Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited was named Exploration Company of the Year for excellence in efficient, safe and sustainable exploration.
Oil India Limited received the award for Oil and Gas Production Company of the Year in the over one million tonnes of oil equivalent category for leadership in advanced recovery and sustainable production practices.
Sun Petrochemicals Private Limited was recognised as Oil and Gas Production Company of the Year in the under one million tonnes of oil equivalent category.
Reliance Industries Limited SEZ Refinery at Jamnagar was named Refinery of the Year for outstanding performance in throughput, operational efficiency, energy conservation and sustainability.
The Innovator of the Year award was jointly conferred on the Research and Development Division of Indian Oil Corporation Limited for the indigenous ZOMAX CAP light naphtha isomerisation technology and the Innovation Center of Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Limited for introducing orderless process technology in industrial operations.
Shell India PMG Joint Venture received the Best Managed Project of the Year award for executing India’s first offshore decommissioning project at Kaki.
Indraprastha Gas Limited was named City Gas Distribution Company of the Year for expanding pipeline networks and strengthening compressed natural gas infrastructure.
Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited was awarded Pipeline Transportation Company of the Year for operational excellence and sustainable pipeline management.
Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited received the Oil Marketing Company of the Year award for operational throughput, digital initiatives and promotion of sustainable energy solutions.
In the Young Achiever of the Year category, Ms Vanashree Mahatre of Pipeline Infrastructure Limited was recognised in the female category for contributions to reducing unaccounted-for gas and enabling alternative supply pathways, while Mr Karthik R of Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Limited was honoured in the male category for leading innovation teams, commercialising inventions and improving operational efficiency.
India Energy Week 2026 concluded by celebrating these achievements, reaffirming India’s expanding energy leadership, its commitment to sustainability and innovation, and its growing role in shaping the future of global energy systems.
