Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy Pralhad Joshi concluded his official visit to Abu Dhabi on 14 January 2026, marking a significant step forward in strengthening international cooperation and investment in India’s rapidly expanding renewable energy sector. The visit centred on high-level engagements at the 16th Assembly of the International Renewable Energy Agency and a series of strategic meetings aimed at deepening India–UAE collaboration in clean energy, sustainable development and green finance.
During the visit, the Union Minister chaired a Renewable Energy Investment Roundtable in Abu Dhabi, bringing together leading UAE-based and global financial institutions, investors and renewable energy developers. The discussions covered a wide range of clean energy segments, including distributed solar power, engineering procurement and construction, clean energy manufacturing, energy storage systems, green hydrogen, waste-to-energy solutions and sustainable finance mechanisms. The Minister outlined India’s renewable energy growth trajectory and highlighted the scale of opportunities available across project development, manufacturing and long-term financing under the Make in India framework. He underscored that stable policies, transparent markets and a strong domestic manufacturing push have positioned India as one of the most attractive global destinations for clean energy investment.
The Minister also participated in Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week, the UAE’s flagship global platform for advancing sustainable development. On the sidelines of the event, he engaged with stakeholders from across the international clean energy ecosystem, reiterating India’s commitment to a just, inclusive and scalable energy transition. The interactions focused on accelerating deployment of renewable technologies, strengthening supply chains and mobilising finance for large-scale and decentralised clean energy solutions.
As part of his engagements, the Union Minister interacted with members of the Indian diaspora in the UAE, including the Kannada community, and acknowledged their efforts to preserve language and culture through initiatives such as Kannada Paathashale. These community-led efforts, which have also been highlighted in national forums in India, reflect the deep-rooted people-to-people ties between the two countries.
The visit also included interactions with key cultural and spiritual institutions in the UAE. The Union Minister visited the BAPS Hindu Mandir in Abu Dhabi, the Hindu Temple at Jebel Ali Village in Dubai, and the Gurunanak Darbar Gurdwara in Dubai, offering prayers at each site. These visits highlighted the shared values of harmony, inclusivity and mutual respect that underpin India–UAE relations.
Earlier during the visit, addressing the Plenary Session of the 16th Assembly of the International Renewable Energy Agency, the Union Minister reaffirmed that India’s energy transition is guided by the principle of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam, emphasising equity, inclusivity and long-term policy stability. At the Inter-Ministerial Dialogue on Scaling Renewable Energy in Agrifood Systems, jointly convened by the International Renewable Energy Agency and the Food and Agriculture Organization, he highlighted the role of decentralised renewable energy in building climate-resilient agriculture and strengthening rural livelihoods.
The Union Minister also held multiple interactions with senior leaders and dignitaries from the global renewable energy sector to advance investment partnerships and technology collaboration. The visit reinforced India–UAE cooperation in renewable energy, clean infrastructure and sustainable development, and underscored India’s readiness to work closely with global partners to accelerate the global energy transition through innovation, investment and long-term collaboration.
