Railway Hindi Advisory Committee Reviews Official Language Implementation At Rail Bhavan

The 62nd meeting of the Railway Hindi Advisory Committee was held at Rail Bhavan, with a comprehensive review of the implementation and promotion of Hindi across the Indian Railways.

The meeting was chaired by Ravneet Singh Bittu, Minister of State for Railways and Food Processing Industries, and V. Somanna, Minister of State for Railways. Raj Kumar Chahar, Member of Parliament, also participated.

Members of the Committee present at the meeting included Arun Kumar, former Member of Parliament; Kuntak Mishra; Sandhya Lall; Nishant Kumar Singh; Jayaram Viplav; Virendra Singh Chauhan; Rakhi Rathore; and Himanshu Dubey. Radha Katyal Narang, Secretary of the Committee of Parliament on Official Language, Ministry of Home Affairs, attended the meeting.

Board Members were present, and Heads of various Zonal Railways, Production Units, Undertakings, Training Institutes and Railway Recruitment Boards participated virtually, along with Chief Official Language Officers and other officers associated with Official Language implementation.

At the outset, the Director General Human Resources, Railway Board, welcomed the participants and presented an overview of the agenda. A detailed report on action taken regarding decisions of the previous meeting was placed before the Committee. The presentation also covered inspections conducted by the Committee of Parliament on Official Language during the half year under review.

Comprehensive information was shared on the use and promotion of Hindi in the Railway Board and its subordinate offices. This included progress on correspondence in Hindi, implementation of bilingual working, conduct of Hindi workshops and training programmes, and compliance with official language targets. A report on Hindi programmes organised in the Railway Board during the review period was also presented.

Members of the Railway Hindi Advisory Committee offered suggestions to strengthen the use of Hindi in administrative functioning, communication, training and public interface across the railway network. Emphasis was laid on ensuring effective implementation at field units, capacity building of officials, and continued monitoring of compliance with official language policy.

V. Somanna and Ravneet Singh Bittu addressed the members and assured them that the suggestions placed before the Committee would be duly examined and implemented in a time bound manner. The meeting concluded with a reaffirmation of the commitment to promote the use of Hindi in official work while maintaining efficiency and administrative effectiveness across Indian Railways.
