Scindia Salutes Gramin Dak Sevaks at Ujjain Sammelan

Union Minister of Communications and DoNER Jyotiraditya M. Scindia addressed a grand Gramin Dak Sevak Sammelan at Kartik Mela Ground in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh, recognising the vital role played by Gramin Dak Sevaks in strengthening last-mile service delivery across rural India. The event witnessed participation of more than 7,000 Gramin Dak Sevaks from across the state.

The Sammelan was organised by the Department of Posts to honour the dedication and contributions of Gramin Dak Sevaks, who form the backbone of postal, banking, insurance and communication services in rural and remote areas. Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh Mohan Yadav was present on the occasion.

Addressing the gathering, Jyotiraditya M. Scindia described the Gramin Dak Sevaks as members of his extended family and called upon them to usher in a new era of transformation in the Department of Posts. Referring to the Prime Minister’s mantra of Reform, Perform and Transform, he emphasised that the postal network must continuously evolve to meet emerging needs of citizens.

Highlighting their deep grassroots connect, Jyotiraditya M. Scindia said a Gramin Dak Sevak knows every household and understands the pulse of the community. He acknowledged their commitment to bridging distances and ensuring seamless delivery of essential services. “When my Gramin Dak Sevaks walk, India walks; when my Gramin Dak Sevaks progress, India progresses,” he stated, underscoring their importance in nation building.

During the Sammelan, Jyotiraditya M. Scindia felicitated 10 Gramin Dak Sevaks for outstanding service and exemplary performance in enhancing rural postal and financial inclusion services. The recognitions celebrated their dedication and role in expanding access to government schemes, banking facilities and insurance products in underserved regions.

Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, in his address, said the Department of Posts has historically enabled people to share their joys and sorrows across distances, strengthening social bonds. Drawing an analogy with Lord Hanuman, he remarked that the strength and potential of the Department of Posts have been awakened under the leadership of Jyotiraditya M. Scindia.

The programme was attended by Savitri Thakur, Union Minister of State for Women and Child Development; Tulsiram Silawat, Minister of Water Resources, Government of Madhya Pradesh; Balyogi Umesh Nath Ji Maharaj, Member of Parliament Rajya Sabha; Anil Firojiya, Member of Parliament, Ujjain; Shankar Lalwani, Member of Parliament, Indore; Suvendu Kumar Swain, Member, Postal Services Board; and Vineet Mathur, Chief Postmaster General, Madhya Pradesh Circle, along with senior officers of the Department of Posts.

The Sammelan reinforced the Government’s commitment to empowering Gramin Dak Sevaks and strengthening India Post as a key pillar of inclusive growth, financial inclusion and citizen-centric service delivery in rural India.
