The Ministry of Steel will hold an Open House on 2 February 2026 to discuss issues related to the import of steel, including matters concerning SIMS, SARAL SIMS and Quality Control Order exemptions. The Open House will be conducted from 12 noon to 5 pm at the Steel Room, 3rd Floor, GPOA 3, Netaji Nagar, New Delhi.
The initiative is aimed at providing a structured platform for companies and industry associations to present and discuss specific challenges related to steel imports and associated regulatory frameworks. The Open House is intended to facilitate direct interaction between stakeholders and officials of the Ministry, enabling clearer understanding of concerns and quicker resolution of genuine issues faced by industry.
Companies and associations seeking to participate are required to obtain a confirmed time slot in advance by sending an email to tech-steel@nic.in
. Requests must be submitted by 30 January 2026, 6 pm. Walk-in participation will not be permitted due to logistical constraints, and to ensure wider representation, only one representative per organisation will be allowed to attend.
While submitting the request email, participants are required to provide specific details, including the name of the company or association, whether the issue pertains to SIMS, SARAL SIMS or Quality Control Order exemption, and the name and designation of the participant. Third-party representation will not be allowed. Applicants must also mention the reference number of any related SIMS, SARAL SIMS or QCO exemption application, if applicable, along with the type of industry and product such as automotive, aerospace, telecom or defence. A brief description of the issue, limited to a maximum of 50 words, and complete contact details including mobile number and email address are mandatory.
The Ministry of Steel has clarified that confirmed time slots for participation will be communicated via email. The Open House reflects the Ministry’s effort to engage proactively with industry stakeholders, address procedural and operational challenges related to steel imports, and strengthen transparency and consultation in policy implementation.
