DU launches online certificate course on “Application of Artificial Intelligence in Health Sciences”

Considering the growing impact of AI in medical line, University of Delhi is conducting an online certificate course titled “Application of Artificial Intelligence in Health Sciences”. The course was formally launched by DU Vice Chancellor Prof Yogesh Singh on Wednesday, February 4. In his address on the occasion, the Vice Chancellor said that in the future, we will need technology-oriented doctors. Therefore, such courses are very necessary. The Vice Chancellor said that along with online courses, weekend offline courses should also be started.
The Vice Chancellor said that just as people were worried about losing their jobs when computers arrived, some people are worried that AI will take away jobs. But there is no need to fear; many jobs will develop alongside it. We cannot be completely dependent on AI. Role of humane being cannot be completely replaced. Prof. Yogesh Singh said that a machine can have understanding, but where will it gather intelligence? That is why all tasks cannot be machine-based. He said, “Samajh ki Samajh ko Viksit karna hi Shiksha hai”. On the occasion Dean of Colleges Prof Balram Pani, Dean Academic, Prof K Ratnabali, Chairperson of DU Research, Innovation and Entrepreneurship Council Prof Dinabandhu Sahu, Course Director, Prof Daman Saluja, Course Joint Director, Prof Naveen Kumar and Course Coordinator Dr Ankit Rajpal and others persons were present.
This course, conducted under the aegis of DU Research, Innovation and Entrepreneurship Council, will consist of eight modules. This course will be conducted entirely online, spanning 15 weeks (2 hours each day on Saturdays and Sundays). Each batch will have 50 seats. The qualification for the course is a Bachelor’s degree (NHEQF Level 5.5) in Computer Science, IT, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, or Life Sciences/Healthcare (MBBS, Nursing, Pharmacy). The primary objective of this course is to provide a comprehensive foundation in the applications of Artificial Intelligence in health sciences, enabling participants to design, evaluate, and interpret medical AI systems, while also fostering interdisciplinary problem solving, ethical awareness, and translational impact.
