Patna, 1 February 2026:
A special musical quiz competition, organised on the occasion of the birth centenary year of legendary composer Ravi, was held in Patna under the aegis of the Department of Art and Culture, Government of Bihar, with the joint cooperation of the Bihar State Film Development and Finance Corporation Limited and the Bihar Museum.
The event was designed to celebrate the life, musical journey and enduring legacy of composer Ravi through an engaging quiz format. Participants were tested on their knowledge using a mix of audio-visual clips and fact-based questions covering Ravi’s compositions, collaborations and contribution to Indian music. Following a competitive preliminary round consisting of 15 audio-visual questions, four teams qualified for the finals and competed across five intense rounds.
Team A comprised Ranjan Amritnidhi and Maitreyee Biswas.
Team B included Vivek Kumar Singh and Sanjay Kumar, both former hostel residents of Ramjas College, Delhi, who later joined the Indian Administrative Service.
Team C consisted of renowned folk singer Manoranjan Ojha and Ruby Kumari, Director, Culture.
Team D was represented by gynaecologists Manju Mohan and Madhu Kumar.
Team B emerged as the winner with a consistently strong performance across all rounds. Vivek Kumar Singh, currently Chairman of the Real Estate Regulatory Authority, drew particular appreciation for his depth of musical knowledge and recall, which played a decisive role in the team’s victory.
As a prize, the winning team was presented with the book Soulfully Yours, based on the life of composer Ravi. The book was personally handed over by its author, noted historian and writer Manek Premchand.
The programme was anchored by Dr Mukund Jagannathan, a well-known plastic surgeon and singer from Mumbai, who kept the audience engaged throughout the event. He also interacted with the audience during the quiz, posing questions and rewarding correct answers with chocolates, adding to the lively and participative atmosphere in the auditorium.
The event was attended, among others, by Prof Kamal Malhotra, Professor and Audio-Video Consultant from Mumbai, and Arvind Ranjan Das, Film Advisor, Bihar State Film Development and Finance Corporation, along with departmental officers, staff members and a large gathering of music enthusiasts.
The programme concluded on an engaging and informative note, successfully presenting the musical legacy of composer Ravi in a manner that was both educational and entertaining, while fostering a shared appreciation for India’s rich musical heritage.
