India Energy Week 2026 Ends With Strong Affirmation of India Energy Leadership

India Energy Week 2026 concluded in Goa with a clear affirmation of India’s growing global energy leadership, resilience and preparedness to navigate geopolitical volatility, as senior policymakers and industry leaders highlighted the country’s balanced and forward-looking energy strategy.

Addressing the closing ceremony, Union Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas Shri Hardeep Singh Puri said India has demonstrated the capacity to manage sustained global uncertainty while remaining firmly at the centre of international energy dialogue. He said India’s approach to energy security is rooted in diversification, resilience and a calibrated transition towards cleaner fuels.

Shri Puri underlined that India has successfully converted successive geopolitical shocks into opportunities by diversifying supply sources and accelerating the transition to cleaner energy options. He noted that India today is the world’s third-largest energy consumer, the fourth-largest refiner and among the leading exporters of petroleum products. Emphasising continuity and stability, he said India will continue to ensure the availability, affordability and sustainability of energy even amid global disruptions.

In the closing fireside interaction, Shri Puri highlighted India’s ability to balance energy security with sustainability while expanding its global footprint. He said India’s preparedness, robust policy framework and growing refining and export capabilities have strengthened its credibility as a reliable energy partner.

Following the Minister, Dr Neeraj Mittal, Secretary, Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, outlined the government’s roadmap to support India’s projected economic growth of over seven percent. He stressed the importance of strengthening domestic exploration and production to enhance energy self-reliance while simultaneously positioning India as a dependable global supplier of refined petroleum products.

Dr Mittal also highlighted the increasing role of digitalisation, artificial intelligence and logistics optimisation in improving efficiency, resilience and decision-making across the energy value chain. He said technology-driven operations are becoming central to managing complexity and ensuring long-term energy security.

The final day of IEW 2026 also featured the presentation of awards recognising innovation, technological excellence and leadership across startups, academia and industry, reflecting the growing depth and diversity of India’s energy ecosystem.

Under AVINYA – The Energy Startup Challenge, Minimines Cleantech Solutions was declared the winner for its proprietary HHM process that enables low-carbon recovery of high-value materials from end-of-life lithium-ion batteries, with applications extending to solar panels, catalytic converters and permanent magnets.

The VASUDHA – Overseas Upstream Startup Challenge was won by SENERGETICS from the Netherlands for its artificial intelligence-driven corrosion monitoring solutions that enhance safety, reliability and sustainability in upstream energy operations.

The Hackathon Challenge was won by IIT Bombay for Aura, an AI-powered unified reservoir analysis platform that integrates advanced machine learning to improve exploration and production decision-making.

Industry excellence was recognised through the FIPI and IIP Annual Awards. Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited was named Exploration Company of the Year, while Oil India Limited received the award for Oil and Gas Production Company of the Year in the over one million tonnes of oil equivalent category. Reliance Industries Limited’s SEZ Refinery at Jamnagar was recognised as Refinery of the Year. Innovation leadership honours were jointly conferred on Indian Oil Corporation Limited’s Research and Development Division and the Innovation Centre of Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Limited.

India Energy Week 2026 concluded by reinforcing India’s position as a steady, pragmatic and credible energy leader, capable of balancing energy security, affordability and sustainability while fostering innovation and international collaboration across the global energy ecosystem.
