Union Minister of State with Independent Charge for AYUSH and Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare Shri Prataprao Jadhav on Saturday hailed the Union Budget 2026 as a visionary and inclusive roadmap that strengthens holistic healthcare and reinforces the national commitment to Health for All and the vision of Viksit Bharat.

The Union Budget 2026 was presented in Parliament by Union Finance Minister Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman. Welcoming the Budget, Shri Prataprao Jadhav said it provides a decisive thrust to the health sector through enhanced allocations and forward-looking policy interventions aimed at strengthening primary, secondary and tertiary healthcare systems across the country under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi.

The Minister highlighted that the Budget has allocated ₹4,408 crore to the Ministry of AYUSH, describing it as a major boost for India’s traditional systems of medicine. He said the enhanced outlay will significantly accelerate the integration of AYUSH with mainstream healthcare, promote evidence-based research and innovation, and strengthen institutional infrastructure and human resource capacity nationwide.

Shri Prataprao Jadhav said the Union Budget reflects the Government’s sustained commitment to positioning India as a global hub of wellness and traditional medicine. He noted that AYUSH-based interventions have played an important role in preventive healthcare, public health resilience and community well-being, particularly in recent years. According to him, the increased allocation will help extend the benefits of Ayurveda, Yoga, Unani, Siddha, Sowa-Rigpa and Homoeopathy to households across the country.

Outlining the key focus areas for the financial year 2026–27, the Minister said the Budget will support the modernisation of AYUSH education and training, expansion and strengthening of AYUSH Health and Wellness Centres under the National AYUSH Mission, and scaling up of research, standardisation and quality assurance initiatives to ensure credibility and global acceptance.

He further noted that the Budget announces several important initiatives for the AYUSH sector. These include the establishment of three new All India Institutes of Ayurveda to strengthen education, clinical services and research; upgradation of AYUSH pharmacies and drug testing laboratories to improve quality, standardisation and availability of skilled manpower; and upgradation of the WHO Global Traditional Medicine Centre at Jamnagar to promote evidence-based research, training and global outreach in traditional medicine.

Shri Prataprao Jadhav said the Budget will also facilitate stronger global collaborations and international engagement in the AYUSH sector, reinforcing India’s leadership in traditional medicine and wellness on the world stage. He added that the Government’s emphasis on holistic health is rooted in India’s civilisational ethos and ensures that ancient knowledge systems progress in harmony with modern scientific advancements.

Concluding his remarks, the Minister said the Union Budget 2026 lays a strong foundation for a healthier, more resilient and self-reliant nation, where holistic healthcare becomes a central pillar of national development and social well-being.
