Paradip Port Authority recorded its highest-ever cargo handling for the month of January, marking a strong start to 2026 and reinforcing its position among India’s leading major ports. The port handled 14.44 million metric tonnes of cargo in January 2026, surpassing the previous January record of 14.32 million metric tonnes achieved in 2024.
The milestone reflects steady growth in operational performance and is attributed to sustained infrastructure augmentation, process optimisation and improved coordination across terminals and stakeholders. The consistent rise in cargo volumes highlights the port’s growing capacity to handle increasing maritime trade demands efficiently.
The achievement also underlines the commitment, efficiency and resilience of the workforce at Paradip Port Authority, which continues to deliver strong operational outcomes amid rising cargo volumes and evolving logistics challenges.
Shri P L Haranadh, Chairman, Paradip Port Authority, credited the accomplishment to the strategic vision and leadership of Union Minister of Ports Shipping and Waterways Shri Sarbananda Sonowal, along with the collective efforts of officers, employees, contractual workers and all stakeholders associated with the port.
Shri Haranadh said the Authority remains focused on modernisation, capacity expansion and operational excellence to support India’s growing trade requirements and contribute meaningfully to national economic development.
The record January performance sets a positive momentum for the year ahead, as Paradip Port Authority continues its progress towards achieving world-class mega port status while strengthening its role in India’s maritime and logistics ecosystem.
