DU Vice Chancellor Inaugurates Students’ Activity Centre at DU
Prof Yogesh Singh, Vice-Chancellor University of Delhi, inaugurated the newly constructed ‘Prerna Bhawan’ (in the Faculty of Social Sciences campus, opposite Ramjas College) in the presence of DUSU office bearers. This building will serve as a Student’s Activity Centre, which also houses the office of the Delhi University Student’s Union (DUSU). Following the formal inauguration, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Yogesh Singh visited the entire building and remarked that ‘Prerna Bhawan’ will be a source of inspiration for the students. He noted that this building would remain a hub for various student-centric activities. On this occasion, the Vice-Chancellor also held discussions with the DUSU office bearers and gave suggestions regarding the operations of the Student’s Activity Centre.
The Vice-Chancellor said that the ‘Prerna Bhawan’, equipped with state of art amenities, features a cafeteria on the ground floor with a seating capacity of over 50 people, alongside a utility shop. Separate provisions for a storeroom and a kitchen have been made within the cafeteria area. A Gymnasium and a Games zone have been established in the basement.
On the first floor, a seminar hall with a seating capacity of 120 people has been constructed. The second floor of the building houses a meeting room, as well as separate offices for the DUSU President, Vice-President, Secretary and Joint Secretary. Additionally, this floor includes a pantry and a small storeroom. ‘Prerna Bhawan’ also features separate toilet facilities for men and women on every floor. On the third floor of the building, a modern, well-equipped library and a reading hall have been provided.
On this occasion along with Vice-Chancellor Prof. Yogesh Singh, Prof. Rajni Abbi (Director, South Campus), Girish Ranjan (DU Finance Officer), Chief Engineer Ashok Saini, Prof. Ranjan Kumar Tripathi (Dean of Students’ Welfare), Prof. Surendra Kumar (DUSU Staff Advisor), and all DUSU office bearers including DUSU President Aryan Man and Vice-President Rahul Jhansala Yadav along with numerous teachers and students were Present.
